On November 14th Osteria Tulia is kicking off their third annual Truffletopia! Chef Vincenzo is inviting guests to indulge in exquisite tartufo bianco d’Alba (white truffle) and tartufo nero (black truffle), sometimes called the “perla de norcia. ” Guests can supplement a variety of entrees including favorite Tulia signature dishes such as the Bucatini, Tortelloni, new menu items like the Rabbit & Taleggio Quadretti, and daily specials with truffles; and enjoy the delectable taste of what is known as “the diamond in the kitchen.”
This highly prized food is a rare edible mushroom that grows underground and hunted typically by pigs, or more commonly, dogs nowadays. The white truffle is found in Alba, in the Piedmont region of Italy, as well as parts of Croatia and Istria; while the black truffles grow in the Umbria region of Italy and the Perigord region of France, and is exclusive to a symbiotic relationship with oak, beech and hazel trees.
